Nagpur: Crime Branch of Nagpur Police arrested a person on the charges of possessing a country-made Mauser gun and cartridges without license.
According to police, the Crime Branch sleuths had received a tip off that the accused Mithun Martin Peter (24), resident of Plot No. 7, Martin Nagar, Nagpur, was in possession of a country-made Mauser gun and two cartridges collectively worth Rs 20200. Accordingly, the sleuths detained Mithun Martin and grilled him. During the questioning, Mithun spilled the beans and confessed to have hidden the illegal gun at his house. A frisking of the house led to recovery of a country-made Mauser gun and two live cartridges worth Rs 20,200. Since the accused was possessing the arms without license, an offence was registered with Jaripatka Police Station against the accused Mithun Martin Peter under relevant sections of Indian Arms Act and he was taken into custody. Further probe is underway.
The action was taken by Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar, Girish Tathod, PSI Narendra Pawar, Gokul Suryavanshi, Police Constables Santosh Singh, Manjit Thakur, Israel Sharif, Shatrughna Kadu, Prashant Kadu, and Baljit Thakur under the supervision of Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police Anupkumar Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police Sunil Kolhe, and ACP Nilesh Raut.
