Nagpur: A misadventure on the part of a 28-year old man cost him his life as he drowned while attempting to catch a White-breasted Waterhen in Sakkardara Lake in Nagpur.
The deceased has been identified as Ravi alias Nanu Sohanlal Pancheshwar, a resident of Prem Nagar, Bhande Plot.
According to police, Ravi had recently been released from jail on bail. On the morning of Monday, Ravi ventured into Sakkardara Lake with the intention of capturing a White-breasted Waterhen. Ravi waded into the lake but soon became entangled in the silt. Despite his efforts to free himself, he was unable to escape and drowned in the water.
A passerby alerted the police control room about the emergency. In response, the control room dispatched the fire brigade and Sakkardara police to the scene. Fire department personnel arrived and retrieved Ravi from the lake. He was transported to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Sakkardara police have registered a case of accidental death.
