Nagpur: A man was killed and another injured seriously when the moped they were riding was hit by a rashly driven tanker truck at Uday Nagar Square, Manewada Ring Road, on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Kailas Bhaduji Chaware (65), resident of Arnav Apartment, Vitthal Nagar. The injured is Rameshwar Kisan Deotale (56), resident of Plot No. 3, Shriram Nagar, Uday Nagar.

According to police, both Kailas and Rameshwar were riding on a moped (MH-31/DX 5093) around 11.30 am on Sunday. As they reached near Uday Nagar Square on Manewada Ring Road, a speeding tanker truck (MH-04/FP 7204) hit their moped with forceful impact. Kailas suffered critical head injuries as he was dragged by the tanker truck for a distance. Rameshwar also received serious injuries. Both were rushed to GMCH where doctors declared Kailas Chaware dead on admission. Rameshwar is getting treatment.
Hudkeshwar PSI Rathod, based on a complaint lodged by Rameshwar Deotale, booked the tanker driver under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the IPC. Cops are searching for the unidentified tanker driver who fled the spot leaving behind his vehicle after the mishap.
