Man knocked dead by car in hit-and-run incident near Saibaba Temple

Nagpur: In yet another hit-and-run incident, a rashly driven car knocked a middle aged man dead near Saibaba Mandir on Wardha Road on Friday night. The driver of the unidentified car is being searched by cops.

The deceased, Ashok Hemraj Vanjari (55), resident of Lane No. 13, Shatabdi Square, Ajni, was returning home after finishing work at Pragati Hall. While Ashok was going towards Ajni Square from Chhatrapati Square, a carelessly driven car knocked him opposite Sukhkarta Hotel near Saibaba Temple around 11.30 pm. After hitting Ashok, the unidentified driver fled the spot along with his car fearing backlash from angry passersby. Ashok lay down on the road with critical injuries and died on the spot even before he could be provided with medical treatment.

The Lady PSI Meshre at Dhantoli Police Station, acting on a complaint filed Ramesh Hemraj Vanjari, has booked the unidentified car driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of IPC read with Sub-Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and mounted a search to apprehend him.
