Man thrashed on suspicion of being child kidnapper in Dighori

Nagpur: A man was brutally beaten up by some people on suspicion of being a child kidnapper at Dighori Square late Saturday night. The injured person was identified as Ramsingh Wadiwe (40), a resident of Kharbi area.

According to police, the incident occurred late at night when Ramsingh was walking towards his home. A little girl approached Ramsingh and asked for money. Ramsingh denied her. She again urged him. He showed a Rs 100 currency note. The note got torn when the girl tried to snatch it from the man. The girl started crying. Passers-by noticed the girl crying in front of the man and grew suspicious of Ramsingh of being a child kidnapper. They started beating him up. He ran away towards Bada Tajbagh. Around 20-30 persons chased and assaulted him on the road.

Meanwhile, the police control room received information about the incident. Staff of Sakkardara Police Stations rushed to the spot and took Ramsingh to the hospital. He sustained grievous injuries in the attack. It may be mentioned here that the Nagpur police issued an advisory for citizens and urged them to refrain from rumour mongering about child kidnappers.
