Modi said March 3 will be celebrated as World Wildlife Day. This year’s theme ‘Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation’ is based on the key role that digital innovation plays in wildlife conservation. The Prime Minister said, “Immense use of digital technology is helping protect wildlife in the country. Due to the government’s positive efforts, tiger numbers have increased. In Maharashtra’s Tadoba tiger reserve, there are over 250 tigers.”

“Do you know that to curb man-animal conflict, Tadoba reserve has taken to AI-based technology, wherein cameras have been installed? Due to AI, people from 13 villages get alerts over the phone on tiger movement. This has helped protect tigers and people,” Modi said.

Modi highlighted many Government schemes launched in the country, including Chandrapur’s AI project and conservation of wildlife in Chandrapur. While mentioning the AI project at Chandrapur’s TATR, Modi stated that digital gadgets were now helping in better coordination between human beings and wild animals to ensure sustainable co-existence in the country. Aiming to curb the man-animal conflicts, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being taken at Chandrapur district. Cameras have been installed in the vicinity of the village and forest to reduce man-animal conflicts. Whenever a tiger comes close to the village, the locals get an alert on their mobile phone with the help of AI. The system has provided benefits to the local people in 13 villages around TATR. Tigers also have got protection. The young entrepreneurs are also bringing new innovations for wildlife conservation and eco-tourism, stressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister for Forest Sudhir Mungantiwar expressed gratitude for noticing the work of the Forest Ministry at Chandrapur. “The appreciation made by the Prime Minister Modi will give some boost to the officers, staff and residents of the Forest Department at Chandrapur. This will definitely give us energy to carry out new activities. Jannayak Modiji thank you very much,” Mungantiwar posted at X.
