Mayor reviews Draft Concept Master Plan of Nag River, Gandhisagar Lake

The Mayor Pravin Datke on Wednesday convened a meeting to discuss Nag Nadi and Gandhisagar Lake Draft Concept Master Plan and reviewed the progress. The meeting was held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hall in Central Office of NMC in Civil Lines.

At the outset, a presentation was done on the Draft Concept Master Plan of Nag Nadi and Gandhisagar Lake. The Plan is in final stages. Under the Masterplan, the concept is how to provide a total facelift to Nag Nadi including flow of clean water, land use at surrounding areas, sewer lines at the confluence of the river etc. In this regard, a Draft Master Plan submitted by HCP Design Consultant, Ahmedabad, was discussed threadbare. The HCP Design Consultant is currently working on Sabarmati River Front Development Project and it very experienced in such projects.

The Executive Engineer (Project) Mahesh Gupta informing the meeting said that the Introduction part contains the concept behind the Master Plan, Scope, Area Assessment that includes all necessary information regarding Nag River, existing catchment area etc. At present, Nag River exists in 17.17 kilometers. The width, heritage structures, surrounding slums, open spaces and other aspects have been taken into consideration while preparing the Draft Concept Master Plan of Nag River and Gandhisagar lake. The aim of presentation is to facilitate certain improvement, suggestions by officials and office-bearers, said Gupta.

The meeting was attended among others by Chairman of Standing Committee Ramesh Singare, Chairman of Estate and Project Special Committee Sunil Agrawal, Chairman of Medical Services and Health Committee Devendra Meher, Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr R Z Siddiqui, Addl Deputy Commissioner Pramod Bhusari, Superintending Engineers Prakash Urade, Shashikant Hastak and other concerned officials.
