Nagpur: MIDC Police have arrested a gang of female thieves for allegedly robbing a middle-aged-woman of a purse containing gold valuables at Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station here, on May 11.
Cops have identified the accused as Laxmi Bharat Hatagle (30), Usha Sampat Shende (35), Shalu Raja Londe (32) and Laxmi Kalu Londe (35), all residents of Rahate Nagar Toli, Rameshwari Ring Road, under Ajni Police Station and recovered stolen goods worth Rs 1.90 lakh.
According to police sources, complainant Vaijantimala Someshwar Mendhe (55), a resident of Sant Tukdoji Ward, Hinganghat, in Wardha District, was in town to attend a wedding. On Wednesday, May 11 evening, she along with her daughter Megha had gone to Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station. When the mother-daughter duo was in the lift, three unidentified women reportedly managed to get their hands on Vaijantimala’s bag and stole her purse containing valuables.
An offence of theft was registered at MIDC Police Station. During the investigation, the team of Police Constables Omprakash, Naik Police Sepoys Rajesh, Vijay, Sachin, Ashwin, Anuj, Woman Police Sepoys Manjusha, Deepika scanned the CCTV footages and got the lead about the whereabouts of the accused. The team, subsequently, made the arrest.
The arrest was made under guidance of DCP Zone 1 Lohit Matani and ACP Tejale.
