Middle-aged man tricks senior citizen, withdraws Rs 3 lakh from bank account

Nagpur News: A middle-aged man tricked a senior citizen and withdrew Rs 3 lakh from his bank account on Wednesday.

According to information, the complainant Vyankat Anandrao Hatwar (60), a resident of Empress Mill Colony, Quarter No. 74, Rameshwari Road, had gone to Punjab National Bank, Hanuman Nagar. Vyankat wanted to check if the interest money was deposited or not. He also make entry of his passbook. But, the entry counter was closed. Meanwhile, a middle-aged man, around 40-45 years of age, approached Vyankat and said that he was going to Kapsi Road branch of Punjab National Bank to make entry in his passbook.

The unidentified accused offered to help Vyankat and won over his trust. He took Vyankat’s passbook on the pretext of making entry. The accused then withdrew Rs 3 lakh from his account.

After discovering that he has been tricked, Vyankat lodged a complaint with Imambada Police. The cops have registered an offence under Section 420 and 406 of the IPC. Further investigations are under way.
