The operations resulted in the registration of cases under the Arms Act, with bootleggers also facing legal consequences.

Accompanied by DCP Crime Nimit Goyal and Zonal DCP Niketan Kadam, Commissioner Singal conducted raids on the hideouts of over two dozen hardened criminals residing in the slums of Mini Nata Nagar, Dipti Signal, and Prakash Nagar within the jurisdiction of the Kalamna Police Station. Singal, actively participating in the searches, emphasized that the police force’s intrusion into the criminals’ hideouts aimed to convey a strong message that antisocial activities would not be tolerated. The Commissioner walked through the slums, overseeing the searches and checks at various locations.

The combing operations commenced in the Vandevi Nagar slum, falling under Yashodhara Nagar police limits, where recent reports of three murders had heightened concerns. Singal and his team then proceeded to the adjacent Vinoba Bhave Nagar.

In two Yashodhara Nagar slums, DCP Crime Goyal reported that approximately 10 criminals underwent scrutiny, leading to the detention of seven motorcycles lacking proper registration plates.

Within the Kalamna police station jurisdiction, 38 suspicious motorcycles were inspected in slum areas, resulting in the detention of one. Additionally, two bootleggers were booked during the operations.

Zonal DCP Kadam revealed that two cases under the Arms Act were registered at Yashodhara Nagar and Kalamna police stations. “Action was initiated after weapons were found at houses of the accused during the searches,” Kadam explained.

Commissioner Singal affirmed that similar combing operations would be conducted in different locations across the city in the coming days. The proactive stance against criminal activities underscores the commitment of the Nagpur Police to ensure the safety and security of the community.
