Nagpur: In a concerning incident, a 15-year-old girl from the Sadar area was found wandering around Mumbai with a teenage boy after both had gone missing. The duo had connected through Instagram just four months prior, leading to their disappearance.
The girl was reported missing on September 23, after she left home for school. Her family filed a kidnapping report, prompting a swift response from the Sadar police. Investigators quickly reviewed CCTV footage from Nagpur railway station, which revealed the girl boarding a train to Mumbai accompanied by the boy.
Upon confirmation of their whereabouts, the Nagpur police alerted the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to monitor trains at Bhusawal and Manmad stations. However, initial searches yielded no leads. Once it was established that the pair had indeed reached Mumbai, the Nagpur police collaborated with the Mumbai police to track their location.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities discovered that the two teenagers were sightseeing at well-known locations such as Marine Drive, Churchgate, and the Gateway of India. Despite ongoing efforts by the police to monitor their movements, the erratic nature of their locations raised concerns for the girl’s safety. The situation highlights the importance of vigilance regarding online interactions and the potential risks associated with social media friendships.
