Nagpur: Sitabuldi Police have registered a case against Janardan Moon and Javed Pasha for unlawfully using the name of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
The complaint was lodged by Ravindra Prabhakar Bokare (59), who currently oversees the management of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Nagpur.
According to police, Bokare stated in his complaint that he received information via WhatsApp regarding Janardan Gulabrao Moon conducting a press conference in the name of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on March 23. Upon accessing the link, he discovered that Moon and Pasha had declared Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s endorsement for the Congress party in the Lok Sabha polls.
Bokare lodged a complaint at Sitabuldi Police Station. As a result, the police have registered a case under Sections 34, 419, 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 66 (c) and 66 (d) of the Information Technology Act.
It may be recalled that the (RSS) had filed a complaint with Election Commission of India (ECI) against activist Janardan Moon, who unsuccessfully floated an organization by the same name. The complaint states Moon’s claim that ‘RSS’ is supporting Congress in elections is misleading.
Moon, who recently formed an organization by the name RSS, had held a press conference, saying his outfit is supporting Congress in the Lok Sabha elections.
An objection has been raised on this by the RSS. The complaint to ECI says Moon misrepresented facts and misled the people at large by the statement. A note shared by RSS says Moon tried to register his organization by the same name but his application was rejected by the Assistant Registrar of Societies. The appeal against rejection has been turned down by the Supreme Court also. This means Moon has no registered institution by the name, RSS.
According to a media report, a video of a press conference by a group under the name of “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh” was being shared on social media with the false claim that the Mohan Bhagwat-led organisation has extended its support to the opposition I.N.D.I.A block and the Congress against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. The group, which shares the same name as Bhagwat’s RSS, is not affiliated with it.
In the 2.20 minute-long video, Janardan Moon, president of the organisation, states that they have decided to support the I.N.D.I.A alliance against the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections.
