Missing child’s body found in Nagpur’s Sonegaon lake

Nagpur: A 7-year old boy’s body was recovered from Sonegaon Lake on Monday afternoon. The child had been reported missing since Sunday afternoon, prompting a search by Sonegaon police.

The deceased has been identified as Sahil Ramprasad Sahu, a resident of Gajanan Dham slum in Sahakar Nagar. His father, Ramprasad, works as a labourer, while his mother works as a maid. Sahil’s elder sister also accompanied her mother to work on Sunday morning, leaving Sahil alone at home to play in the compound. Sahil’s disappearance is still shrouded in mystery. He was last seen playing within the premises, but when his mother returned from work, he was nowhere to be found.

The family filed a missing complaint at the Sonegaon police station. The cops swung into action and circulated Sahil’s photo on social media. Tragically, the search came to an end on Monday afternoon, when locals spotted a child’s body floating on the waters in Sonegaon lake.

Sonegaon police rushed to the spot and retrieved the child’s body from the lake. Preliminary examinations conducted on the body revealed no visible signs of injury, said police. The cops are suspecting that Sahil might have accidentally fallen into the water while playing. A case of accidental death was registered by Sonegaon Police.
