Nagpur: In an eleventh hour drama, a day prior to voting for the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) Biennial Election; the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has extended their support to Independent Candidate Mangesh Deshmukh describing their earlier candidate Chhotu Bhoyar unable to contest for polls.
The letter issued by Mohan Joshi, Vice President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee states that Chhotu Bhoyar not willing to contest polls, thus Congress Pradesh President Nana Padole has decided to extend the party’s support to Mangesh Deshmukh.
It is pertinent to mention that MLC Elections will be held on December 10 for which 15 polling booths set (12 in rural and 3 in city) in the Nagpur District.
There are 559 voters registered for the MLC election. Out of 559 voters 155 are from Nagpur Municipal Corporation, 71 Zilla Parishad, and 334 Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats.
Now just Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Chandrasekhar Bawankule, Congress candidate Mangesh Deshmukh are in the fray.
