Nagpur: A group of over 10 persons including a woman created ruckus in front of new Koradi Thermal Power Plant gate by blocking a hearse van carrying body of a 31-year old man. The persons blocked the hearse van on National Highway and resorted to “Rasta Roko.” The rampaging group also ‘Gheraod’ the Chief Engineer Nikhare and raised slogans pressing for their demands. Timely intervention by police averted the law and order situation. No arrests have been made in this connection. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon.
The trouble started when the group of persons including Lankesh Chandrabhan Meshram, Shailesh Gajgade, Mangesh Bhalave, Ishant Anil Manwatkar, Raju Sonekar, Shoeb, Latabai Waghmare, Sunil Barmate, Vinod Borkar, Ravi Lokhande, all residents of Mahadula, and their accomplices assembled in front of gate of new Koradi Thermal Power Plant and blocked the hearse van carrying body of Pawan Chirkutrao Wase (31) of Mahadula on National Highway.
The mob raised slogans and pressed for their demands. Later they also ‘gheraod’ the Chief Engineer Nikhare and resorted to sloganeering. Alarmed by the worsening situation, police were summoned by the authorities. Cops asked the protesters to maintain law and order but their instructions went unheeded and the accused persons continued their protest.
It could not be verified whether the deceased Pawan Wase died in any accident in the thermal power plant and the mob was demanding compensation to the kin.
Koradi PSI has registered an offence under Sections 143, 341, 342 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 134 of Mumbai Police Act against the accused and investigating the matter further.
