Nagpur: This month, the Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was voted to power last year( 2014 ) is celebrating one year in office.
With promise of ” Achhe Din ” and in’the Modi wave’, Narendra Modi led BJP got a commanding majority. As Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has certainly showed a certain difference in the definition of leadership and style of ‘Governance’ as compared to the earlier UPA regime.
Nagpur Today ventured out to know if Modi Government brought about the “Ache Din” into reality or was it a distant dream. Citizens of Nagpur expressed mixed reactions.
Pravin Sharma- Businessman: We are still waiting for the good days that Modi government had promised to the citizens of the country. We have a recent example of hike in petrol and diesel prices.
Pratik Bhaugone- Snack Vendor: Modi did not fulfill his promises so how could one say that we are satisfied with the government? Youngsters are still jobless and are hunting for jobs.
Nityanand Tiwari – Executive Director of Company: Most of the time, PM Narendra Modi spends abroad touring different countries. This is having its negative impact in the minds of people. People should understand that this government is trying to convince all friendly countries to explore possibilities of business investments in India. I think it’s a good initiative, government is making a forward move.
Pratap Agrawal – Juice Vendor: BJP had made a lot of promises to the people during elections. However, after coming to power, they have forgotten everything. I would say, that the present Modi Sarkar (government) is worse than the previous government. In the next election we shall certainly not vote for the Lotus.
Renuka Deshmukh – Journalist: Everyone would have a different opinion based on their experiences. However, blaming the government directly will not be a justification. Since the former government also did not do any good for its citizens. Therefore in my opinion, whatever the BJP Government led by Modi is doing is good for the people on the long run. The people should be optimistic that soon the government will do something concrete in favour of the citizens of the country.
Pratiksha Jaiswal – Fashion Designer: First of all, the government should have thought about the safety and security of women. Since this is what, Modi ji had promised before elections, that every woman would be safe when we come to power. However, the situation is far from reality. Every woman still have to tackle various troubles even in our city.
Veronica Andrad – Student: I would say that the government has not fulfilled the promises, it made before elections. Yes, we had a lot of expectations from this government, but the BJP led government is yet to resolve issues like unemployment. Thousands of youth are still jobless. The woman’s security too is precarious even in our city.
Yugesh Bais – IT Businessman: As a businessman, I’m completely unsatisfied with this government because the taxes have been increased. Poor people cannot survive decently as they used to during the previous government. The promises and schemes they have declared for the benefit of common man should be implemented at once.
Pramod Vasu – Tea Vendor: We read in the newspapers daily that the government has launched such and such scheme and that we would get lakh of Rupees in our bank accounts. However, we have not even received a penny and now we are tired of hearing such hollow claims. Now we need action. Recently the Railway fare followed by Petrol and Diesel rates were hiked. Whom should we rely on to address our inability to meet such hikes.
P.N Tiwari – Teacher in Institute: This Government is working well. Each elected party needs some time to work. Everything cannot be fulfilled overnight.
