Molestation bid at Empress Mall results in group clash; DCP injured

Tension sparked at PVR in Empress Mall on Saturday evening after two groups clashed over a molestation case taken place in the mall at multiplex. Police force from three police stations rushed at the spot to control the situation. It was learnt that a senior officer who had also gone to watch the movie interrupted to control the situation but was thrashed by youths.

Ganehspeth police has rounded up 15 youths from the empress mall. A molestation complaint was also registered by police.

Chaos took place after two youths misbehaved and passed indecent comments to a 23-year-old girl at the cinema hall. The girl was accompanied by her sister. It was learnt that the girl initially opposed the youths and even complaint to officials. Finally, she complaint the matter to her brothers after PVR officials didn’t take any action against the youths.

Her brothers gathered their friends and picked up a fight with the youths at PVR. DCP Sanjay Darade, who had gone also to watch movie, tried to interrupt in the clashes but was mishaldled by the youths.

Police conducted search at Nottee Bar

Darade immediately alerted Ganeshpeth, Kotwali and Tehsil police stations and the situation was brought under control. Sources informed that police even conducted search at Nottee bar at Empress Mall.

Youth injured

It was learnt that a youth present at Nottee bar got injured when he tried to jump from the exit window while police conducted search. He was later caught by police and was taken to Ganeshpeth police station for interrogation.
