Nagpur: The South West monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of Northern Maharashtra, and it is anticipated that the rainy season may bid adieu to Vidarbha earlier than its usual date. The official date of monsoon withdrawal is October 15.
While East Vidarbha experienced a delayed onset of monsoon, West Vidarbha witnessed an early arrival. The region has remained predominantly dry since the September 26 rains.
According to officials, although the monsoon may retreat from the region before its scheduled date, a light to moderate spell of rain is expected on October 8 or 9. Currently, the partly cloudy sky has increased humidity causing discomfort.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, monsoon has further receded from additional parts of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat region, Madhya Pradesh, some areas of Maharashtra, and most parts of the North Arabian Sea on October 5.
