More than 2 lakh posts are vacant in the Government of Maharashtra

Nagpur/Mumbai – The Government of Maharashtra has informed RTI activist Anil Galgali that there are more than 2 lakh vacancies in the Government of Maharashtra as well as in the Zilla Parishad. This vacancy has 16 sections out of 29 whose information is not up to date.

Anil Galgali, an RTI activist, had submitted an application to the Government of Maharashtra on June 18, 2021, seeking information on the total number of posts in all categories under the Government of Maharashtra, sanctioned posts, filled posts and vacancies. The General Administration Department provided information to Anil Galgali in Government wise groups A, B, C and D till 31st December 2019. Also they provided Zilla Parishad vancany information alog with this. The total number of sanctioned posts in 29 Government Departments and Zilla Parishads is 10,99,104. Out of which 8,98,911 posts have been filled. 2,00,193 posts are vacant. There are 153231 vacancies for government employees and 40944 vacancies for Zilla Parishad. Out of the total 29 sections, information of 16 sections is available till 31st December 2018.

Out of the total 29 sections, information of 16 sections is available till 31st December 2018. It includes four different of Home Department, three different of Revenue and Forest Department, Medical Education and Drugs Department, Social and Justice Department, Urban Development Department, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department, Rural Development Department, General Administration Department, Soil and Water Conservation Department, Housing Department, Minorities Department.

According to Anil Galgali, a large number of vacancies affect work and citizens have to suffer. In a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Anil Galgali has demanded that the government should fill the vacancies as soon as possible.
