Mouda Police Rescue 13 Cows, Arrest Two Cattle Smugglers

Nagpur: On Sunday, Mouda Police apprehended two individuals for illegally transporting 13 cows to a slaughterhouse in an inhumane manner. The rescued cows were found tightly bound inside a Mahindra Bolero pickup truck (MH-40/CD-4906), which was also seized by the authorities. The vehicle is valued at Rs 5 lakh.

The accused, Saurabh Arun Dhabale (25) from Wadoda, Kamptee, and Rakesh Dinesh Ambilkar (22) from Bazar Ward, Lakhni, Bhandara district, were arrested following a tip-off. Police set up a ‘Nakabandi’ near Wadoda around 7 am and intercepted the truck. Upon inspection, they found the distressed bovines and immediately rescued them, later sending the cows to a Goshala.

The accused were charged under Sections 5(a)(1) and 9 of the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act and Sections 11(1)(d) and 11(1)(f) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at Mouda Police Station. The operation was led by PI Pramod Ghonge, along with API Manoj Choudhary, HC Prakash Gathe, and PCs Atul Nimbarte and Shubham Ishwarkar.
