MPCC chief Ashok Chavan urges Cong workers to dethrone BJP governments

Nagpur:Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Chief Ashok Chavan gave a clarion call to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Governments in the Centre and State on the occasion of centenary birth anniversary of former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi on Sunday.

In his aggressive speech Chavan blasted BJP governments for trying to erase memories of great Congress leaders and reiterated the famous slogan “Chale Jao” (Go Back) asking workers to revive the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

The party observed the birth centenary with great zeal at Chitanvis Centre. Ashok Chavan was present as chief guest while Suresh Dwadashiwar, Editor of Lokmat, Lilatai Chitale, noted social worker, Vilas Muttemwar, former Union Minister, Vijay Wadettiwar, Deputy Leader of Congress in Maharashtra Assembly, Vikas Thakre, City Congress Chief and former Minister of State Rajendra Mulak, Nagpur District Chief were present on the dais.

Chavan while launching frontal attack on BJP ruled Governments stated that the Central government was trying to divert the country from the thoughts of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatama Gandhi, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Indira Gandhi. Even though the BJP is trying to change the history of the country, people of the country will never forget the great sacrifice of Indira Gandhi, he added.

Making a passionate appeal to Congress workers to unite to dethrone the Central and State Governments in the next general elections and asserted that due to anti-people policies of the present governments, people are simmering with discontent. Predicting a spectacular victory for the Congress in 2019 elections, Chavan claimed that people are fed-up with BJP government. He cited recent electoral victories at Nanded, Gurudaspur and Chitrakoot.

Suresh Dwadashiwar while expressing concern over alleged violation of freedom of expression claimed that nation was passing through a phase of undeclared emergency. He charged the government with failure to arrest murderers of Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare, Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh. It is necessary to raise strong agitation against the governments. He said that Late Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life for the united India.

Vilas Muttemwar, former Member of Parliament said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was famous all over the world for her great decision. Even Atal Bihari Vajpayee had termed her as Goddess Durga for Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.

Chavan, Muttemwar, Thakre, Mulak and others cut a 100 kg cake to mark the birth centenary of late Indira Gandhi. Congress functionaries S Q Zama, Baburao Tidke, Sheikh Hussain, Vijay Jichkar, Babanrao Taiwade, Abhijeet Wanjari, Mukundrao Pannase, Pundlikrao Jaunjal, Vishal Muttemwar, Sandesh Singalkar, Atul Kotecha, Ramkrishna Ojha, Umakant Agnihotri, Keshavrao Shende, Ramgovind Khobragade, Anant Gharad, Sanjay Mahakalkar, Pragya Badwaik, Raju Vyas, Pintu Bagadi, and Raman Paigwar were present on the dais. Bal Kulkarni compered the programme while Vishal Muttemwar proposed a vote of thanks. Surbhi and Sachin Dhomne along with group presented melodious songs on Indiraji.
