MSEDCL busts 40 electricity thefts in Lashkaribag area

Nagpur: In a recent press release, the flying squad of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL), in collaboration with the Lashkaribag sub-division, has uncovered 40 instances of electricity theft, amounting to a total value of Rs 24 lakh between February 5 and 8.

This joint operation unveiled the illicit consumption of 95,293 units of electricity by these 40 consumers within the Lashkaribag sub-division. Legal action has been initiated against the offenders under Section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act, with the estimated value of the stolen electricity pegged at approximately Rs 24,23,560.

During the crackdown, 9 out of the 40 identified consumers voluntarily paid a sum of Rs 3.52 lakhs. The operation was carried out under the guidance of MSEDCL’s Regional Director Suhas Rangari, along with the support of CE Dilip Dodke, SE Amit Paranjape, Deputy Director Sunil Thapekar, and EE Rajesh Ghatole. The enforcement team comprised AE Rahul Chintalwar, Brijesh Yadav, Zafar Akbar, Mangrush Taksande, AEE Hemendra Gaur, Shrikant Talegaonkar, and Vivek Raut.
