Nagpur: To recover arrears from consumers whose connections are permanently disconnected (PD), the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has launched an amnesty scheme, Mahavitaran Abhay Yojana-2024. The scheme will start on September 1 and will last till November 30 this year.
All High Tension (HT) and Low Tension (LT) consumers, excluding agricultural consumers, who are permanently disconnected on or before March 31 this year, will be eligible for the scheme. Application can be done from the Mahadiscom website and mobile application.
Delayed payment charges and interest will be waived off, and no interest from the PD date to the application date will be charged on making payment of 100% principal amount. Consumers will have the option of making 100% payment at one stroke or a minimum 30% down payment with a maximum of 6 instalments. An additional 5% and 10% rebate will be given for HT and LT consumers, respectively.
The MSEDCL is yet to get Rs 5,048 crore from 38 lakh permanently disconnected consumers, along with Rs 1,719 crore as interest and Rs 70 crore towards delayed payment charges.
MSEDCL had a similar scheme with a limited scope of amnesty two years ago. This time, the scope has been widened. The permanently disconnected users need to apply between Sept and Nov to avail of the scheme. Delayed charges from March 31 to Sept 1 will be waived.
