Nagpur: A jawan of Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) posted at WCL mines in Kanhan suffered three bullet wounds in head and stomach after a suspended Army jawan fired at him. The incident took place at around 3.30 pm on Sunday.
According to reports, the profusely bleeding MSF jawan is being treated at hospital and his condition is reportedly critical. The police arrested Sameer Siddiqui (29), a resident of Kolari Tekdi and Rahul Jacob (26), a resident of Kandri for attempt to murder MSF jawan Milind Samadhan Khobragade (29). Milind is native of Akola district. He was posted at the check post at Mine No. 6. Inder colliery Manager Office of WCL last week.
According to police, Sameer with a history of criminal record was suspended from the Army. He also received a dismissal notice from the Army. Sameer had heated arguments with the MSF jawan posted at Inder colliery last month. Since then, he was searching for him. The incident took place at 3.30 pm. Sameer and Jacob were moving in the WCL area on a two-wheeler. Milind grew suspicious and objected to them. A heated exchange of words took place between them. As the arguments escalated to physical fight, Sameer took out a mouser and fired shots at Milind. He received two bullet injuries on the head and one in the stomach. Milind collapsed on the ground in the pool of blood. He was taken to the hospital and his condition is reportedly critical.
The assailants escaped from the spot after the firing. According to police, the accused fired the first shot during the scuffle. The bullet pierced through the stomach of Milind. As a result, he collapsed on the ground. The assailants then fired another shot at his head.
Staff of Kanhan Police Station and staff of Local Crime Branch (LCB) rushed to the spot. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the criminals. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishal Anand and Addl SP Dr Sandip Pakhale also rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. A case under provisions of Sections 307, 353 and 34 of Indian Penal Code and Section 3, 25 of Arms Act was registered by Kanhan police.
