Mumbai school, colleges shut in view of heavy rains

Mumbai: Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde has declared holiday today in all schools and colleges in Mumbai Metropolitan Region due to heavy rainfall.

‘Precautionary holiday declared for schools, colleges in Mumbai Metropolitan Region for the safety of the students due to the heavy rainfall experienced in the city and the suburban areas. Heavy rains forecasted, every one is advised to stay safe,’ Tawde tweeted.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has advised that ‘the visibility today, will mostly be poor, please ride and drive with care’.

Western Railway deployed pumps to clear tracks at Dadar, Matunga, Goregaon and other locations.

‘Heavy duty pumps throwing water from tracks at Dadar, Matunga Road, Goregaon & other locations. All efforts being made to run WR suburban services continously inspite of very heavy & incessant #MumbaiRains,’ WR tweeted.
