Municipal elections should be held in September; Submission of application by the State EC in the SC

An application has been filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of the Election Commission regarding the state elections. The application seeks permission to hold city and nagar panchayat elections in September. It has also requested that the local body elections in rural areas, i.e. Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat elections, be held in October. This petition is likely to be heard in the Supreme Court soon.
