Nagpur: A dramatic incident unfolded at the Nagpur District and Sessions Court on Friday when a murder suspect allegedly consumed poison inside the courthouse.
Amjad Sheikh, the accused, was apprehended for a murder committed on May 17 in the Yashodhara Nagar area. He was brought to the court for a hearing when the incident occurred.
As Sheikh was being escorted through the court’s porch area, his wife reportedly handed him a substance identified as Jalhaad, a type of poison. After consuming the poison, Sheikh became violently ill, began vomiting, and subsequently lost consciousness.
Emergency services quickly transported him to Mayo Hospital, where he remains under close medical supervision in critical condition.
