Nagpur: In a swift operation, Nagpur Police on Sunday rescued a city-based builder who was kidnapped at gun point from Multai in Madhya Pradesh by his business partners. The police have booked three suspects, including a couple, in the Wadi area in this connection.
Tension gripped the Ajni area late Saturday night following the reported abduction of Sandeep Pendke (45), a builder by profession, and forcibly taken to Dahegaon on the outskirts of Nagpur to resolve money matters.
The incident occurred on Sunday, culminating in Pendke being assaulted and threatened with a firearm. The Wadi police registered a case against three, including a couple, but subsequently transferred the investigation to Multai police.
Chandrashekhar Wakde, Amar Raut, and Raut’s wife were previously business associates of Pendke, but they fell out during completion of a project near Dahegaon.
The trio intercepted Pendke in Multai and forced him to accompany them to Nagpur, where an unidentified armed assailant intimidated and physically abused him, police said. Pendke was also allegedly forced to confront several investors who claimed to have been cheated in the project.
Meanwhile, Pendke’s elder brother reached Dahegaon to secure his release. Wakde and Amar were apprehended later in the day.
Police sources said that Sandeep Pendke, an associate of a construction firm, had travelled to MP to attend family functions. On Saturday night, he was allegedly kidnapped by his business partners due to financial disputes.
