The citizens were amazed to see an “Unidentified Flying Object” (UFO) blazing the black and cloudy skies with powerful searchlights at about 7.30 in the night. A curiosity gripped the citizens and triggered a hot discussion over the mysterious lighting object.
However, the amazement, curiosity and, and the discussion calmed down after the “UFO” or Flying Saucer” turned out to be a helicopter.
Since Nagpur citizens rarely see a helicopter flying in the dark nights with roaring sounds. The said helicopter returned to Nagpur from Kamptee direction with its lights blazing. (A helicopter’s searchlights are so amazing, so bright and visible even from a fairly long distance).
An Itwari resident Koushal Jain called some newspapers and told them of witnessing an UFO-like object hovering in the night skies. The object was shining the skies with five powerful and bright lights. The witnessing of the “UFO” threw open the wild discussions among the Nagpur citizens, albeit, with half knowledge, and, even with no knowledge at all. The citizens only know that helicopters don’t fly in the nights. But their curious discussion went cool and normal when they come to know of the object was nothing but a helicopter of a private company.
A Congress party leader and General Secretary of City Congress Sanjay Dube called some papers and told them about the “mysterious object. ” When informed about that the object was a helicopter, he expressed his surprise over the helicopter was flying in the night, a rare event.
HELICOPTERS FLY IN THE NIGHTS ALSO:
The Nagpur Airport Director Ashok Verma clarified and removed all doubts about helicopters flying in the nights. Throwing the light on night operations, he said, “Nagpur Airport is well equipped to allow a helicopter fly in the night, too. Since the flights in the night are less or minimum, a helicopter is permitted to fly in the dark hours. There is absolutely no difficulty in helicopters flying in night as the ATC of Nagpur Airport is on duty for 24 hours. The private companies seek permission of Nagpur ATC only after the helicopter pilots are well-trained and are fully capable flying the helicopters in the nights,” Verma said.
