In her statement to the police, Renuka disclosed that Vijay had been battling alcoholism and frequently accused her of infidelity which led to regular arguments between them. On Saturday afternoon, Vijay returned home after attending a police recruitment drive. Finding his wife absent, he called her, and she informed him she was at the market and would return shortly. Vijay expressed frustration and claimed that she was often away whenever he returned home.

Later that evening, Renuka returned home and, after dinner, went for a walk with their children. Upon Vijay’s return at 7 pm, he called Renuka, who refused to come home and cited past disputes fuelled by his alcohol consumption. When she returned, she found the door locked, and despite knocking, Vijay did not open it. Renuka and the children spent the night in the car. They made no further attempt to enter the house until morning.

During this time, Vijay took his own life by hanging himself with a nylon rope tied to the ceiling fan in their flat’s hall. The incident was discovered around 7 am.

Gittikhadan Police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. The police have registered a case of accidental death in connection with the incident.
