Nagpur: Commissioner of Nagpur Police Dr Ravinder Singal placed Head Constable Vilas Ramesh Chinchulkar, attached to Anti-Human Trafficking Squad of the Crime Branch, under suspension after Hudkeshwar Police registered a case of extortion against him, his sister and mother.
Vilas (36), his sister Darshana (28) and mother Chanda (58), all residents of Amar Nagar, Manewada, were booked for allegedly trying to extort Rs two crore from the builder and developer to whom they had given their plot for constructing a flat scheme. Vilas, Darshana and their mother Chanda had a 2200 sq ft plot at Shri Sant Dnyaneshwar Cooperative Housing Society in Mouza Chikhli. They had given the plot to builder and developer — Shashank Kharche and his partner Arjun Shahane — for constructing a flat scheme by signing an agreement with them.
As per the agreement, they constructed five flats on the plot, gave one flat to Vilas, kept one for themselves and sold three flats. However, Vilas kept the keys of one of the three flats sold by the builder and was reluctant to give the possession to the buyer. Karche, a resident of Manewada, requested him to give the keys of the flat to the person to whom the flat was sold by them. Vilas allegedly demanded Rs two crore from Karche to hand over the keys of the flat to the buyer.
Karche then approached Wathoda Police. After verifying the documents, including the agreement between the Chinchulkars and builder, police conducted inquiries. Finally, police registered a case of extortion under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Vilas, his sister and mother.
