Nagpur Cyber Police helps victim recover Rs 19.90 lakh lost in online fraud

Nagpur: The Nagpur Cyber Police have made significant strides in their fight against online fraud, successfully recovering Rs 19.90 lakh lost in fake trading accounts.

The case stemmed from a complaint filed by Jayesh (name changed), who reported losing money in the stock market due to fraudulent activities.

According to the investigation, cyber criminals exploited Jayesh’s trust, guiding him to invest funds through a deceitful trading application.
Consequently, Jayesh incurred a loss of Rs. 19.90 lakh in the scam. Determined to seek justice, Jayesh promptly lodged a complaint with the cyber police station.

Responding swiftly, the cyber police launched a thorough technical investigation, meticulously tracing the money trails associated with the fraudulent transactions.

Their efforts led to the identification of three accounts where Jayesh’s funds had been siphoned. Following legal procedures, the recovered amount was returned to Jayesh, providing him with some relief amidst the ordeal.

Additionally, the cyber police have taken decisive action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown perpetrators.

The FIR has been registered under sections 419, 420, 467, 471, and 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code, along with section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
