Nagpur: In a case eerily reminiscent of the film Drishyam, Nagpur police have arrested Ajay Anand Wankhede, a 33-year-old Army jawan, for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Jyotsna Prabhakar Aakre. After lacing her drink with a sedative, Ajay reportedly strangled her, buried her body in a secluded area, and covered it with cement.

The two had met through Shaadi.com and developed a romantic relationship. Tensions rose when Ajay stopped responding to Jyotsna, leading her to track him down. On August 28, they met near Wardha Road, where the horrific crime took place.

On August 28, they met on Wardha Road and checked into a hotel. Later, Ajay laced her drink with a sedative. Once unconscious, he strangled her, drove to a remote area, and buried her body, covering it with cement.

After Jyotsna didn’t return home, her family reported her missing on August 29. Investigations led police to Ajay, who had sought medical attention at the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune. Despite applying for bail in both the Sessions Court and High Court, his applications were rejected. He was finally arrested after fleeing the Pune hospital where police had tried to apprehend him.

In custody, Ajay confessed and led police to the burial site. The Beltarodi police, led by DCP Zone IV Rashmita Rao, along with forensic experts, exhumed the body.
