Nagpur: Nagpur Football Club, one of the prominent football clubs of the city, will take part in the 4th edition of all India ‘Bihar Cup” football tournament. Nagpur team has been given direct entry to the quarter-final round of the tournament.
Twelve teams, including previous years” champions Bangalore District Football Association (Karnataka), ONGC (Mumbai), Army XI (Kolkata), Nagpur Football Club (Nagpur) and Tata Football Academy (Jamshedpur) will vie for honours at the tournament at Moinul Haq Stadium in Patna.
The matches will be played in the league-cum-knockout format under the aegis of Patliputra Art Culture and Sports Foundation. The tournament, which will start on March 15, will continue for 14 days.
The winner of the cup will take a cash prize of 1 lakh, while the runners-up will be given 50,000. The teams reaching the semi-final of the tournament will get 25,000 each.
The Cup holders Bangalore District Football Association, ONGC (Mumbai), Army XI (Kolkata) and Nagpur Football Club have been given direct entry to the quarterfinals.
