Nagpur firm to manage waste, keep Amarnath Yatra clean this year

Nagpur: Urban Enviro Waste Management Limited, a leading Solid Waste Management company based in Nagpur, and listed on the NSE, has been awarded the contract for collection, transportation, processing, and disposal of the solid waste to achieve sustainable and zero landfill during Amarnath Yatra-2024.

This significant achievement underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to environmental excellence and dedication to serving the pilgrims, or yatris, undertaking this sacred journey.

The role in this project includes, striving to achieve sustainable waste management and zero landfill, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, providing essential facilities to Yatris, raising awareness about waste management and environmental sustainability and enhancing the overall yatra experience through technology.

“We consider it our great honour and a blessing from Baba Amarnath to be given this opportunity to serve the yatris and our team of around 700 dedicated workers is working tirelessly, day and night, to provide the best possible facilities to the yatris,” said Kamlesh Sharma, Managing Director of Urban Enviro Waste Management Ltd.

A significant milestone in this journey was reached on June 22, 2024, when yatra anthem, logo, yatra website, and apps were officially launched by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and other dignitaries at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar. This event was graced by the presence of Anoo Malhotra, Director General of DRS, the CEO of the Amarnath Yatra Shrine Board, other esteemed dignitaries from the Jammu and Kashmir Government, and the dedicated team from Urban Enviro Waste Management Limited.
