Nagpur: Day after three-member team from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) headquarters inspected the site, three officials overseeing the Pardi project that shot in the limelight in the aftermath of the collapse of one of the spans of one of the fly-overs, were terminated on Thursday.
Among those who faced action were N L Yeotkar. He was with NHAI and was working as Project Director. Yeotkar has been attached to Regional Office of NHAI and named as General Manager.
The other two who faced the heat included Vijay Firay, he was Project Manager of M/s SMS Infrastructure Ltd and M/s Gannon Dunkerley & Company Limited that is the contractor of the mega development project that involves construction of three fly-overs in Pardi area. The last one removed from project is Vipul Chakravarti who was with the consultant company, M/s Lasa, a Mumbai-based company that oversaw launching and placement of girders.
It is pertinent to mention that a segment of the under-construction flyover collapsed in Bharat Nagar in Kalamna area on Tuesday night.
Following which NHAI had decided to constitute an expert committee to investigate the reasons behind the collapse, and necessary steps will be taken based on its report.
“The high-level technical expert committee shall investigate the incident and necessary
steps will be taken after submission of the report by the committee,” an NHAI press note
stated on Wednesday.
