Nagpur: The Government Railway Police (GRP), Nagpur, busted a fake currency note gang, arresting five from West Bengal and two from Pune, including a woman.
According to a report, one Lakhfar Mondal, a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal, had tried to purchase a food packet from Platform Number One of Nagpur Railway Station with a fake currency note of Rs 500 in the first week of April.
Mondal was fleeing with Rs 450 change given by the vendor in exchange of the Rs 500 note he handed over to pay for food worth Rs 50.
Mandal was nabbed by the vendor and handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF). He was subsequently handed over to the GRP. The GRP team, under SP Akshay Shinde and Senior Inspector Manisha Kashid, nabbed five more from Murshidabad district of West Bengal and two from Chakan in Pune rural, including a woman, identified as Shashikala Daudkar. The GRP team recovered fake currency worth Rs 70,500.
