Nagpur: The Nagpur Ladies Circle 50 inaugurated their first school under Project “Prarambh” — ZP Primary School, Sawangi (Devali) on February 11, 2024.
They have built 3 classrooms with 2 toilets and a kitchen. The school has 125 children spread out over grade 1 to grade 5. It stands to benefit almost 125 children and reaching out to 400 children in the village, not just in terms of infrastructure but also in education with a long-term goal in mind.
The project is in collaboration with ‘Bridge the Gap Foundation’ headed by Neeta Gupta, who will take care of the entire education of the children for at least 10 years. Bridge the Gap brings the urban teaching and methods into the rural schools with their esteemed panel of teachers and volunteers.
Zilla Parishad Primary School, Sawangi was built in the 1960s. The entire structure was in a dilapidated condition with a singular bathroom. 130 children would sit in two classrooms and children of all grades were taught in the very same classroom. The entire structure was demolished and built from foundation up. This is only phase 1 of the school. Very soon NLC50 along with Bridge the Gap will start work on phase 2 also.
Along with the entire infrastructure, NLC50 have provided 120 desk benches, teachers desks, computers and setup a library too. T-shirts were provided to all 125 children by Nagpur Ladies Circle 50.
Nagpur Ladies Circle 50 are an all women based non- profit, charitable organization. They do numerous projects covering many aspects, but our main aim is Educate to Empower. NLC50 builds classrooms and toilets in underprivileged schools. They also do skill building, sponsor a child’s school fee, create awareness for mental health, support LGBTQI and work on various other projects.NLC50 are the Nagpur chapter for Ladies Circle India.
