Nagpur: The investigation into the brutal murder of Nagpur photographer Vinay, also known as Bablu Poonekar, has uncovered a sinister plot orchestrated by the accused Sakshi Grover. The police recovered deleted WhatsApp chats between Sakshi and shooter Hemant Shukla which revealed that Sakshi instigated Shukla to kill Poonekar.

Earlier, Sakshi had tried to mislead police by informing them that she was unaware of Shukla’s murder plan. On February 23, Shukla, following Sakshi’s directives, fired two fatal shots at Vinay Poonekar at his house in Raj Nagar in the city. The initial police investigation indicated that two different bullets were used in the gruesome act, adding a layer of complexity to the case.

During interrogation, Sakshi Grover claimed that Shukla was in Nagpur the day before the murder. However, a deeper probe into her WhatsApp messages with Hemant Shukla revealed a shocking twist. Senior police officials scrutinized the recovered WhatsApp chat exchanges between Sakshi and Shukla and discovered that on February 22, Sakshi explicitly called Hemant and ordered him to carry out the murder. The chilling message read, “Agar mai ghar dikha du to tum kya usko marr doge” (Will you kill him if I show you his house.)

This shocking fact revealed that Sakshi was not only aware of the murder but actively involved in the criminal conspiracy. The timeline of events further revealed that Sakshi had planned the murder of Poonekar the day before the murder. Initially, her plan was that she would be with Poonekar, and later Shukla would come and kill Poonekar. However, she changed the plan and dropped Shukla near Poonekar’s house.

With the help of forensic experts, Nagpur police have recovered deleted WhatsApp chats between Sakshi Grover and Hemant Shukla, both accused in the murder of photographer Poonekar. Police are making concerted efforts to arrest the absconding shooter Shukla.

Meanwhile, Sakshi was sent to jail after her 15 days PCR ended.

Till now, the investigation has revealed that after killing Poonekar, Shukla fled to Madhya Pradesh, then Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh and later to Haryana. Three police teams tracking Shukla have failed to arrest him.

Meanwhile, as the Sadar police have failed to track down the shooter in the sensational murder of photographer Poonekar even after 18 days, the probe has now been handed over to the Crime Branch.
