Nagpur: In a shocking incident, the body of a young woman who was murdered and buried in the forest near Ramtek has been discovered. The victim has been identified as Priya Bagdi, also known as Priya Gulak (27).
The police have arrested the accused, Mahesh Keshav Valsakar (57), a resident of New Somwarpeth, Sakkardara Niksi. Mahesh and Priya had been in a relationship for about five years. According to reports, Priya was pressuring Mahesh to marry her, which allegedly led him to murder her and bury the body in the forest. The police plan to exhume the body today.
As per the police, Priya had been living separately from her family in Faras, Godhni, for the past six years. She went missing on August 16, and her phone had been switched off since then. When Priya’s mother visited her residence in Mankapur, she found her daughter missing. On August 24, Priya’s mother filed a missing person’s report at Mankapur Police Station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2), Rahul Makne, instructed the team to track Priya’s location. Her last known location was traced to a hotel in Ramtek.
Mother Suspected Boyfriend’s Involvement
Priya’s mother expressed suspicion towards Mahesh, her daughter’s boyfriend. After being detained and questioned by the police, Mahesh confessed to murdering Priya.
Mahesh worked as a manager at a milk powder manufacturing company, where Priya had also been employed. Their romantic relationship developed during this time. When Priya pressed Mahesh for marriage at a hotel in Ramtek, he allegedly strangled her in a fit of rage. Mahesh then transported her body to a forest about 3 kilometers away from the hotel, where he buried her.
