Nagpur: A man attacked his wife with a stone, gravely injuring her, before fleeing the scene over suspicions of infidelity. The incident occurred in the Pawangaon area under Kalamna Police Station jurisdiction. The victim, identified as Aarti Ramesh Tiwari (40) of Devinagar, Pardi, sustained serious head injuries. The police are currently searching for her husband, Ramesh Jagjeevan Prasad Tiwari (45).
According to reports, Ramesh, who works as a priest, and Aarti have three children. Ramesh harbored suspicions about Aarti’s character, leading to frequent arguments between the couple. Aarti had left home and gone to Rewa after one such altercation but had returned following a reconciliation.
On Monday evening, Ramesh found Aarti talking on the phone and questioned her. Dissatisfied with her response, he grew more suspicious and assaulted her again.
On Tuesday, Aarti decided to leave home and planned to go to an ashram, but Ramesh opposed this and suggested she go to her brother’s place instead. He then took her to a secluded spot in Pawangaon under the pretext of viewing a plot of land. There, they argued again, and Ramesh attacked her with a large stone, striking her head multiple times. Aarti’s cries for help alerted the villagers, prompting Ramesh to flee.
Locals found Aarti in a pool of blood and informed the police. Officers from Kalamna Police Station arrived at the scene and rushed her to Mayo Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. The police have registered a case of attempted murder and are actively searching for Ramesh.
