Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Inspects Fire Fighting Equipment, Ensures Readiness for Monsoon Emergencies

Nagpur: The NagpurMunicipal Commissioner , Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary, inspected important firefighting equipment of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Fire Department on Friday, July 5. The equipment from various fire stations was displayed at the Kalamna Fire Training Center.

Present during the inspection were Additional Commissioner Mr. Ajay Chartankar, Chief Fire Officer Mr. B.P. Chandankhede, Executive Engineer Mr. Sanjay Mate, and Center Officer Tushar Barahate.

Mr. Anil Balpande of the Fire Department presented information on the equipment from different centers. The inspection included the ‘VIP Movement RIV Vehicle’ from the Cotton Market Fire Station, the ‘Mud Pump’ from the Lakadganj Fire Station, the ‘Portable Dewatering Pump’ from the Kalamna Fire Station, the ‘Emergency Portable Lighting System’ from the Civil Lines Fire Station, ‘Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus,’ ‘Pneumatic Lifting Bag,’ the ‘Inflatable Portable Lighting System’ from the Sakkardara Fire Station, ‘Spreader Cutter,’ ‘Power-Packed Spreader,’ ‘Spreader/Cutter’ from the Narendra Nagar and Lakadganj Fire Stations, the ‘Inflatable Rescue Boat’ from the Sugat Nagar Fire Station, ‘Foam and Foam Equipment,’ ‘Branches and Heads,’ ‘Fire Suit,’ ‘Life Boat,’ ‘Life Jacket,’ ‘Small Gear,’ ‘Chainsaw,’ and ‘Concrete and Metal Circular Cutter’ from the Kalamna Fire Station.

The Municipal Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the functioning of the Fire Department and showed a positive response toward the availability of necessary equipment as per city requirements. He requested a list of the equipment needed from the department and instructed the update of the wireless system. He emphasized the importance of safety for firefighters during emergency operations and directed the placement of the vintage fire vehicle from the Kalamna Fire Station at a prominent city location.

Also present were Mr. Satish Rahate, Deputy Officer Ajay Lokhande, Mr. Aklim Sheikh from the Kalamna Fire Station, Mr. Bhagwan Wagh from the Cotton Market Center, Mr. Rupesh Manke from the Civil Lines Center, Mr. Shivaji Shirke from the Sakkardara Center, Mr. Dilip Chavan, Mr. Rajendra Shinde from the Lakadganj Center, Mr. Ashok Ghavghave from the Narendra Nagar Center, and Mr. Ravindra Trivedi from the Sugat Nagar Center.

Complete ‘Aapda Mitra’ Process

Following central government guidelines, the appointment of ‘Aapda Mitra’ in the city is proposed. A total of 150 ‘Aapda Mitra’ will be selected, 15 from each of the city’s ten zones. The Municipal Commissioner instructed the prompt completion of the necessary process.

Interaction with Trainees

The Municipal Commissioner inspected the building of the Kalamna Fire Training Center and reviewed the facilities provided to the trainees. Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary interacted with the trainees, inquired about their examinations, and extended his best wishes.
