Nagpur Police and Prakruti Trust Host Special Women’s Day Celebration

Nagpur: In a joint effort, the Nagpur City Police, in collaboration with Prakruti Trust, organized a special Women’s Day celebration under the theme “Inspire Inclusion.” The event aimed to acknowledge and honor the remarkable contributions of women across various sectors, including those in uniform, educators, students, and women from underprivileged backgrounds, who have played pivotal roles in ensuring the safety and well-being of women and children in the city.

The celebration took place on Tuesday at the auditorium of Police Bhawan and was attended by officers and personnel of all ranks, along with Police Didis from all City Police Stations.

Highlights of the event included the release of two infomercials created by the Nagpur City Police and Prakruti, focused on raising awareness and safeguarding women and children against sexual abuse and trafficking. These videos, initially unveiled by the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister of Maharashtra, and Guardian Minister of Nagpur City, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, in January 2024, emphasize the importance of safety, the role of Police Didis, and the risks associated with social media platforms, particularly chat apps.

Dr. Swati Dharmadhikari of Tirpude College of Social Work, Mrs. Shilpa Sarod of Lady Amritabai Daga College, Dr. Priya Mohan Raut of Datta Meghe Ayurvedic Medical College, and Mrs. Rupa Varma of MKSSS Sitabai Nargundkar College of Nursing, along with Dr. Sharda Naidu of Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education, were felicitated for their outstanding contributions. The felicitation was conducted by Dr. Ravinder Singal, Commissioner of Police; Smt. Aswati Dorje, Joint Commissioner of Police; Shri Sanjay Patil, Additional CP Crime; Shri Pramod Shewale, Additional CP North Region; and Shri Shivaji Rathod, Additional CP South Region.

Furthermore, individuals such as Minakshi Dhadade, Shehnaz Sheikh, Vaishali Chowre, Alka Uike, Bhagyashree Dubey, Divya Funde, Simran Yadav, and Bharti Tirbude were honored for their dedicated efforts in assisting crime victims.

Dr. Ravindra Singhal, Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, “We are extremely happy to have organized this meaningful celebration, which pays tribute to the invaluable contributions of these courageous women towards creating a safer and more inclusive society.”

Mrs. Aswathi Dorje, Joint Commissioner of Police, highlighted the role of Suraksha Samitis and the YIU initiative as force multipliers for Police Didis, emphasizing the importance of timely information in aiding women and girls in need.

Shri Sanjay Patil, Additional CP Crime, commended the efforts of the YIU and Suraksha Samitis in building a safer society, while emphasizing the need to recognize and encourage such initiatives.

A spokesperson for Prakruti expressed gratitude towards all the female heroes and reaffirmed the commitment to building a safer and more equitable society in collaboration with Nagpur Police and other stakeholders.
