Nagpur’s Yashodhara Nagar Police rescued five cows from illegal slaughter and arrested 52-year-old Wakil Ibrahim Qureshi on Monday. Qureshi, a resident of Shiv Nagar, Majri, had kept the cows in poor conditions without food or water, intending to slaughter them.
Police acted on a tip-off, raided the location, and found the cows tied up without proper care. The rescued cows were sent to Gorakshan Samiti, Dhantoli. Qureshi was booked under the Maharashtra Animal Protection Act and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The investigation is ongoing.
