Nagpur: Accusing the ‘influence’ of each other’s top leaders; the delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress ‘unanimously’ contended that Nagpur Police was ‘under pressure’ to register offence against them.

In what could be termed as utterly deplorable, the members of both BJP and Congress went on wild rampage on Sunday, by indulging in hooliganism over a tiff. Both the parties accused each other of destroying property and molestation of women. However, there’s one thing that they both agree upon, that it was ‘political pressure’ which compelled Nagpur Police to register an offence against them.

Accusing Congress of the violence, local Corporator Virendra Kukreja said that “The violence occurred in Jaripatka was a strategically planned action. Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut pressurized Jaripatka Police to lodge ‘Politically Motivated’ Atrocity Offence against me. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray should immediately suspend Dr. Raut from Maharashtra Cabinet for his abuse of power,” he said while addressing a press conference here, on Monday.

Kukreja claimed that the group of women and men led by notorious Babu Khan, who has been accused of extortion and other serious offences, barged inside his office and ransacked it. When BJP workers including tried to intervene the accused attacked them too, he said.

Following which, the delegation of BJP approached Jaripatka Police Station; however, cops, influenced by Dr Raut, refused to hear our grievances, Kukreja said and mentioned that Dr Raut had misused his power of minister to pressurize Nagpur Police and compelled them to registered offence against me under Atrocity Act. Kukreja has also demanded CM Thackeray to suspend Raut from Maharashtra Cabinet.

The BJP press conference was followed by a delegation of Congress workers, led by MLA Vikas Thakre. Countering BJP’s claim, the Congress workers contended that Babu Khan is no criminal but a social worker, who has been tirelessly working for the benefit of the society. BJP is fueling communal hatred with the help of false narrative, the Congress members said on this occasion.

When Nagpur Today spoke to Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar regarding these allegations, he specifically said that based on the complaint and counter-complaint received at Jaripatka Police Station, cops registered two offences against both the parties. A thorough investigation has been launched in this regard. The guilty will face strict action, he assured.
