Nagpur: The historic Nagpur Railway Station is set to touch sky-high glory with the unfurling of 100 feet tall Tricolour. The towering National Flag, installed on a 100 feet tower at the garden in West Gate premises, was dedicated at the hands of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday.
In another significant development, Gadkari also dedicated escalators installed at Platforms 2/3 and 4/5 for convenience of passengers. Similarly, the Union Minister dedicated new LHB coaches attached to Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express, Nagpur-Ahmedbad Prerna Express and Nagpur-Jaipur Express.
The first commercial service on new broad gauge of Nagpur-Chhindawara Section commenced from Saturday. Union Minister Gadkari flagged off new train Itwari-Kelwad passenger from Itwari Station. The section falls under South East Central Railway’s Nagpur Division and was recently inspected by Commissioner of Railway Safety.
The opening of section provides a faster mode of travel within the Nagpur district as it connects various important stations.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Rajya Sabha member Dr Vikas Mahatme, Divisional Railway Manager Somesh Kumar and other officials.
