Nagpur: The Sanatan Dharma Yuvak Sabha is set to celebrate its 73rd Dusshera festival at Nagpur’s iconic Kasturchand Park on October 12, beginning at 4 PM. The grand event will feature 60-foot effigies of Raavan, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad, which will be set ablaze to mark the triumph of good over evil. This year’s celebration promises to be especially vibrant with cultural performances and a spectacular light and sound show.
A key highlight of the festivities will be a dramatic depiction of the legendary battle between Jatayu and Raavan, brought to life through a light and sound play by Ashirvad Movietone. The event will also include ras garba and dhol tasha performances, adding to the festive atmosphere.
In a unique cultural inclusion, Vishwa Mamatwa Foundation, India’s first transgender group, will perform a piece titled “Ghar Aa Jao Ram,” inspired by the works of Manoj Muntashir, as announced by Sanjiv Kapoor in a press conference.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will attend the event as chief guests. The evening will conclude with a dazzling display of fireworks, organized by the Sanatan Mahila Samiti, ensuring a memorable end to the celebrations.
