Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has embarked on a project to construct cement concrete roads in various residential areas across the city. However, this initiative has become a significant source of distress for many residents due to its unplanned and haphazard execution.
Improper pavement height:
In numerous locations, the height of the new pavements is above the plinth level of homes. This design flaw has led to severe issues, particularly during heavy rainfall. The heavy rains on Monday, June 17, exacerbated the situation, causing gushing water to enter homes due to the elevated road levels. Residents were left helpless as their houses flooded.
A video clip highlighting the conditions in Sneh Nagar has brought to light the traumatic experiences of its residents. Shatayu Kadwe and Chandrashekhar Bannagare have both spoken about the severe hardships they face due to the unplanned road construction in their area. The ongoing issues have prompted them to demand a reconstruction that adheres to proper planning and standards.
Walking and driving on these newly constructed roads have become daily challenges. The uneven and unplanned construction makes navigation difficult and increases the risk of accidents.
