Nagpur: The Second Capital of the State on Sunday was the second coldest city in Vidarbha with a minimum temperature of 12.4 degrees Celsius. Yavatmal was the coldest place in Vidarbha with 12.0 degrees Celsius, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
With 12.4 degrees Celsius, Nagpur experienced the lowest minimum temperature of the season on Sunday. The IMD has forecast consistent chill in the air during morning and night hours for the next few days and until further drop in mercury level by next month.
On Sunday, Yavatmal was the coldest place in Vidarbha with 12.0 degrees Celsius followed by Nagpur (12.4 degree Celsius), Gondia (12.8 degrees Celsius), Wardha (13.9 degrees Celsius), Amravati (14.0 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (14.0 degrees Celsius), Bramhapuri (14.2 degrees Celsius), Buldhana (15.2 degrees Celsius), Akola (15.4 degrees Celsius),Washim (16.0 degrees Celsius) and Gadchiroli (16.4 degrees Celsius).
The sudden drop in temperature compels citizens to start using woolen clothes and jackets. It also increased the sale of winter garments in the last few days in city markets.
Due to the dry weather prevailing for the past few days, the temperature started falling all over Vidarbha. Due to formation of low pressure areas in Bay of Bengal back-to-back, Vidarbha experienced cloudy weather with light showers in the region including Nagpur throughout November. Such weather activities have increased the maximum and minimum temperatures both since last one month.
