Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the Nagpur-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express via video conferencing from Nagpur Railway Station. The ceremony was attended by Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Central Railway General Manager Dharmveer Meena and Nagpur Divisional Manager Manish Agarwal were also present at the event.
During the ceremony, Nitin Gadkari expressed his gratitude on behalf of the people of Nagpur to Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the redevelopment of Nagpur’s Ajni and Nagpur railway stations, along with the availability of Vande Bharat trains in the city. The Governor emphasized that improved rail connectivity spurs economic growth in the region. Following the event, a live broadcast of the Prime Minister’s speech from Ahmedabad was shown at Nagpur Railway Station.
The Nagpur-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express is a significant development for Vidarbha, connecting two major industrial hubs. At Chandrapur and Ballarshah railway stations, the train was welcomed by National OBC Commission Chairman Hansraj Ahir, Chandrapur MP Pratibha Dhanorkar, and local MLA Kishor Jorgewar, along with special greetings for the train staff. The high-speed, advanced, and comfortable train is expected to enhance both industrial development and passenger transport services.
The Vande Bharat Express, comprising 20 coaches, will cover the 578 km distance between Nagpur and Secunderabad at a speed of 130 km/h, with five stops en route: Sevagram, Chandrapur, Ballarpur, Ramagundam, and Kazipet. This new service will shorten travel time between Maharashtra and Telangana. Operating six days a week, the train will depart from Nagpur at 4:15 PM and reach Secunderabad at 11:25 PM the same day.
